Urgent Appeal to the Campus: Food Pantry Shelves are Empty

A few days ago, I wrote to tell you that the Giving Cup competition is going well and that many departments have really gotten into the spirit of helping out students by keeping the pantry stocked.

The bad news is that these donations have been quickly depleted.  I was just informed that the pantry is empty, and this is as we are approaching the home stretch of the semester when students are already stressed and worried about exams and grades.

PLEASE consider getting some extra items for students when you do your shopping this weekend.  Items do not need to be expensive and ramen noodles, pasta and sauce, crackers, and granola bars can go far to help tide students over for snacks during the day and evening meals.

If you donate, send me an email to let me know the number of items (a box of 6 granola bars counts as 6) and the name of your department.  I would be happy to invite you to our annual Giving Cup Competition Celebration on May 2 as a special thank you for participating.  Your department will also be listed as a participant in this year’s Giving Cup and recognized at the ceremony.
